Newcell was founded in September 2020 with a registered capital of RMB 100 million and is located at No. 566 Yincheng Avenue, High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Yiyang City, Hunan Province.The company is committed to developing green energy solutions in the energy storage sector, with a focus on the R&D, manufacturing, and sales of lithium-ion batteries and battery systems.The company occupies a site of 360 mu, with a total floor area of approximately 190,000 square meters, a total investment of RMB 5 billion, an annual production capacity of 23 GWh, and an annual gross output value of RMB 10 billion. The project will be developed in three phases. Phase I covers 120 mu, with a floor area of 64,000 square meters and a total investment of RMB 1.5 billion, achieving an annual production capacity of 6.5 GWh and commencing operations in October 2023. Phase II spans 80 mu, with a floor area of 46,000 square meters and a total investment of RMB 1 billion, also boasting an annual production capacity of 6.5 GWh and scheduled to begin operations in 2026. Phase III covers 160 mu, with a total investment of RMB 2.5 billion and an annual production capacity of 10 GWh.
Tao Guang, the company’s largest shareholder and chairman, is a native of Nan County in Yiyang. Mr. Tao was one of the core founding members of several domestic consumer lithium-ion battery companies and power battery firms, and has long served as the chief technical advisor to leading domestic power battery manufacturers. He has also been appointed as a visiting professor at the Shenzhen Graduate School of Tsinghua University. Throughout his career, Mr. Tao has been dedicated to the technological advancement and transformation of lithium-ion batteries, having founded multiple lithium-battery-related enterprises and actively driving industry development through concrete actions.
The company currently employs over 600 people, including 400 frontline workers, more than 60 managers, over 100 R&D and technical personnel, and more than 40 sales staff.
